I AM HAVING TROUBLE LIKING AND COMMENTING ON BLOGS!!!! IT SEEMS RANDOM AS SOMETIMES I CAN LIKE AND COMMENT AND SOMETIMES I CAN’T. I NORMALLY LIKE AND /OR COMMENT, BUT DON’T ALWAYS GO BACK TO SEE If THEY APPEARED, JUST TOOK IT FOR GRANTED. SO FAR I AM WORKING WITH WORD PRESS BUT THEY WANT MORE INFORMATION.
FORTUNATELY, I HAVE NO PROBLEM LIKING COMMENTS AND COMMENTING ON MY OWN POSTS. I WANT MORE THAN THAT. IT IS FRUSTRATING! HAS ANYONE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEM? AT THIS POINT I HAVE LITTLE PATIENCE!!!!!!
More than frustrating I’m sure. These things have a way of working out. Hang in there. FYI: I regularly check my Spam, and I can report I did not see you there. Thanks for letting us know.

Your problems may be related to cross-site tracking. WordPress has made some changes in that regard. Go to this recent post of mine and scroll down in the comments to philosophermouse’s complaint about the same issue, and my response, which explains how to deal with it.
If you’re using Firefox, there’s one other step that may need to be taken if you’re having trouble with notifications, and the WP people walked me through that recently. But if you’re using Safari (or Chrome, I presume) allowing cross-site tracking should take care of it for you.

Thanks! I went there and read what you wrote. Unfortunately, I could not comment! ha! I use Foxfire so I will check settings. Seems many of us are having problems..

Be sure you’re using the most current version of Firefox. Then, go to Settings and click Privacy & Security. Under “Enhanced Tracking Protection,” choose standard. Then, scroll down to Cookies and Site Data. Click on “Manage exceptions.” Add the URL of your website (or websites, if you have more than one) and also add the wordpress.com URL. Select “allow” for them all, and that should (might?) clear things up. Fingers crossed!

That must be frustrating. I’ve had troubles now and then liking and commenting via my phone or tablet, but never on my desktop. I hope you get it figured out.

It is frustrating! I take time to comment and then it disappears! I don’t have time for this. But thanks for commenting. People have been sympathetic so that helps. I haven’t had any trouble with my phone.

Just recently (as in the last few weeks) I find I am having to log in on their blog to make a comment or like on blogs I have followed for years.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I had that too and logging in was not too had if I could still comment. But now I log in and comment is gone. Oh, well, things could be worse. The news is!

Oh. yes. It is not random wordpress gremlins. It’s systemic.

It’s good that the WP gremlins are not just after me! Comments have made me feel better. Weird that I could easily like and comment on some and not others. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Cindy!

Sorry to hear that. I hope it’s fixed soon.

I am not much of a tech person so this is frustrating. I am grateful for my WP friends who have made suggestions and offered sympathy.

At times when I go to comment on another’s post, I am taken right to the comments section while other times I have to go through the process of signing in again which means remembering the password and so forth.
It can be frustrating at times.

Yes! Before I was seldom taken to sign in section. That was ok but my comment and/or like would still not go through. Thanks for sharing your frustrating experiences. Liking and commenting should be basic rights!

Very frustrating Jo, I’ve experienced comments being directed straight into spam folders on WP, but I have heard others who have had problems.
I hope those ‘Happiness Engineers ‘ soon sort out your problems..
Sending hugs your way. 💕🤗💕

Happiness Engineers indeed! Maybe that is where my comments are going. Who knows! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This does not bring me peace! Still I have much to be thankful for this weekend. Hugs back across the pond!

I’ve been having the same problem for the last week. I use Firefox which works perfectly on every other site on the internet. For whatever reason, the Enhanced Tracking is at odds with WP sites. You can allow pop-ups (for liking and commenting on other blogs) by clicking on the shield of website address and clicking “allow pop-ups” or turning off “enhanced tracking”. This will allow you to like and comment without having to sign in every time. It will only pertain to that particular blog so you don’t have to worry about keeping the enhanced tracking when using the rest of the internet. 🙂

I use Foxfire and haven’t had any other problems. Thanks for the suggestion!
I really liked Sidney the Dragon but could not like or comment! Lovely and sad story. Some days I want to stay in my safe lagoon!

I know the feeling! 🙂 The enhanced tracking has to be deactivated on each blog you visit in order to like and comment.

Hi Jo. You need clean your browser cache. Go online and search for “how to empty a cache on (then name your browser).Follow the instructions. If that doesn’t work then you may need to install another browser. Hope this helps.

Thanks, John! That sounds easy – just clean out something. I’ll be trying that. At first it was just now and then but now it is a waste of my time to try to comment until I get it fixed.
Glad you are doing well and your vision is good. I know that is something I will have to have eventually. Your success is encouraging. Have a good weekend. Still waiting for our rain but it is overcast so that’s a reprieve from the heat. Cheers!

We keep missing the rain. So who knows. I hope it works on the comments. When it’s time you should have the surgery. It is so easy and so beneficial.

A few other bloggers have mentioned similar issues and cross-tracking seemed to be the issue, either from a setting on their own blog (check ‘Settings > Discussion tab’) or on their browser.
Here is a link to the cross-tracking issue with the Safari browser (https://wordpress.com/support/remote-login-permission/). I think other browsers have a similar setting.

Thanks so much, Margie! At least I know that are some things I can do without depending on a chat with WP. That was not helpful! Thanks for the link! What would I do without blogger friends? Cheers!

Hi JoNell. I don’t have your problem but sometimes WordPress plays strange jokes. Yesterday it changed the spacing on my post so all the words were close together – no new paragraphs.

You don’t need their editing! WP is always changing and sometimes not for the better. Husband helped me trouble shoot today and I think he got it fixed. WP help was no help. Happy Engineers??? Did not make me happy. Thanks for stopping by, Judith.

I am so sorry that you’re dealing with this! And I know what you mean about “happiness engineers”…..they are often misnamed. Some are good, others aren’t, and it’s the luck of the draw which ones answer you request for help. Have you looked at your internet settings and made sure that cross tracking is allowed? Both Google and Mac have cut down on that in the name of privacy, but it is necessary to enable it if you want to use Word Press. When I couldn’t like other posts, or even edit my own, that turned out to be the problem. And I think lots of bloggers are dealing with this, as the number of average likes I get on a post has dropped by about 30% in the last few weeks.

Oh, I know they probably do the best they can, but they don’t make it easy to communicate.Thankfully, Husband has experience with computers and programs so with tips I got from bloggers (like the one you suggested, and thanks) he was able to trouble shoot my laptop and WP settings. So far I am able to like/comment 99% of the time.
I hate that I missed like or commenting on so many blogs. There is no way I can go back so I will just have to go forward. So many good blogs, so little time! Thanks for sharing your experience. I remembered that you were having trouble too! Hope all is well with you and yours. Will have to visit and see if I can comment!
