FRIDAY FOTO: LIBRARY MURAL

PERSONAL NOTE:  It seems I have been mostly absent from WordPress since late July.  Husband and I got COVID, thankfully it was mild, and then Husband experienced a medical emergency that involved two hospitalizations, blood clots and a fractured ankle.  He is home now and recuperating well.  I venture back into the blogging world with this Friday Foto and look forward to visiting my blogging friends again.  TGIF!

Portions of mural on the outer walls at the entrance of the local public library (Portland, Texas) by artist Cameron Walls completed in 2024.

  1. I’m so glad that you are back in action. I’ve missed your blogs. Also, so thankful that Bill is on the mend. I love these murals. They are very colorful. I am glad that CC is getting more and more murals around the city. Have a great weekend, and thank God for all the rain, and cooler weather on the way.

  3. I’m so sorry about your husband. Here is a wish that he returns to normal very soon. I have missed you, and prayed that everything was okay.

  4. It is good to hear you are recovered and recovering. We had a bout with Covid also, but thankfully, it was nothing a few days of rest and a lot of fluids took care of. Guess I will start masking again when I am in a store. The murals are stunning, and how fun the way the artist conceived the fantasy with the silhouette next to it reading! Hope you have good days ahead.

    • Our bout was similar. We don’t get out that much but had been to a memorial service. Who knows where we picked it up. I am just grateful that Husband is home and recovering and has not lost his sense of humor either.

I loved the silhouttes too! Yes, we look forward to good days ahead and grateful for each today! There is even a hint of fall (for us) in the air. Take care!

    • I am glad I am not alone in being intermittent with my posting. I admire those who have a schedule and adhere to it.

Yes, I love our little library and librarians were are against banning books.

Thanks for the well wishes! I am back to 100% (for my age!) and Husband is getting there. Take care! Thanks for the visit!

  5. I smiled when I saw the first photo, and wondered how many people might think you were showing art from Portland, Oregon. There are plenty of people who don’t know about some of our best Texas towns!

I’m especially glad for the good news about your husband’s continuing recovery. Things can happen so quickly and so unexpectedly, and many things in life, illness often comes quickly and leaves slowly. At least we’re going to get a bit of cooler weather, although there’s more rain and perhaps a ‘system’ to deal with next week. We can hope that the parts of the state that missed out on rain this time will get their portion. We’ve had something like ten inches in August!

    • You are right – and I should have put Texas in there. People often assume it is Portland, Oregon instead of Texas. I should edit the post.

Husband’s incident did happen suddenly and quickly. We were over COVID and feeling good, then boom. He got excellent care at Spohn Shoreline for the ER visits and hospitalizations, but we don’t want to repeat it. It was a close call.

I lost track of how much rain we got here, but it was plenty. Today it is dry and the wind is from the north. A neighbor mowed the front yard and I let the back go – we could graze cattle back there. I have someone coming next week to do both on a more regular basis. We will keep a watch on that system too. Thanks for stopping by. I won’t get caught up on posts but will read what I can. WordPress has changed and my notifications don’t seem the same. Oh, well, Take care!

  7. I’m late seeing this. Just shows you where I’m at these days. I’m so sorry Jo, that you and your husband got Covid. How are you feeling now? Are you over it? I have friends who have long Covid and that’s no fun. Robert and I both had Covid in March 2022 and hope we don’t get it again. Stay well. 💕

    • Yes, we are over COVID and grateful it was mild. Husband had other medical complications not related to COVID but is recovering after two hospitalizations. His recovery has been my focus. Thanks for checking in! I hope your back issues are improving and you find that perfect computer.

  8. Oh dear! Glad to hear the Covid is over!

I still haven’t gotten it. One of the few I know.

Anyway, hope your hubs is 100% now, as I’m a month late reading this.

I must say….THANK YOU for sharing the mural. I absolutely love it!

    Be well, Jo!
