From Elizabeth’s at the Art Museum of South Texas; credit unknown
I saw this photo on the Facebook page of a restaurant, Elizabeth’s at the Art Museum of South Texas. The photo was taken inside the restaurant with the mirror reflecting the interior and the USS Lexington Museum across the way. The Art Museum of South Texas is located right beside tihe Corpus Christi Ship Channel and offers views of ships coming in and out of the port. Often one can catch a dolphin playfully breaking the water.
The restaurant is located inside the museum and is available even if you are not visiting the museum. The menu is Mediterranean-inspired and the Turkish coffee is excellent!
What a great photograph!

This is a beautiful photo and brings back memories. I served on an Essex class carrier like the Lex during the mid-sixties (USS Randolph CV 15). We steamed many miles before they decommissioned her shortly after I left.

Happy to bring you good memories! The Lex is a treasure and honors all like you who have served. Thanks for sharing!

It is! There are huge windows all across the wall facing the water so everyone has a good view. I think you would like the Turkish coffee served in small cups and very strong.

I laughed at how long it took me to find Corpus on the map. I’m used to coming down the beach roads; it finally occurred to me that I’ve never taken 35 south from Rockport. I need to do that! I’d love to see the water exhibit at the art museum now, but it’s going to close before I can get down there. That’s a well-placed mirror, and a beautiful spot. Have you eaten there? Is the food good?

Yes, the food is excellent and service is good. Casual but classy. We had brunch there a couple of weeks ago but we didn’t take time to visit the full museum and see the water exhibit.

And it is a beautiful museum with some good views of the water too. The restaurant is rather intimate where one can go dressed up or in more casual attire. Shorts are not out of place in this heat!

I really liked it too and wished I could have given personal credit for it. I did see a dolphin that day and the ships are always interesting to see too as they are just right there. Thanks for stopping by!

Yes, it tells a story. Never thought of it that way, but every photo tells a story. Some are more layered than others.

The frame was rather unusual too.
