It was a popular alter. There were many more individual ones that were smaller. There was an unusual one to the memory of Abraham Lincoln that I almost posted. Thanks for taking time to visit!

It’s a well-celebrated day here, too. The custom of visiting the graves of departed family members is especially nice.

It seems it is growing. I like the custom too of visiting graves on the day to remember. Down here in the brush country some of the older rural cemeteries can become quickly overgrown if they are not cleaned regularly. I have seen a century plant almost consume a grave.

I love the photograph. Fitting I have been working on cemetery research all day, doing my best to honor those who came before.

Yes, it is a good way to honor and remember those who are gone. Also, people also use the day in a practical way to visit cemeteries and to clean them up. Many of the smaller rural cemeteries are self-maintained. Your work is so important!

Thank you, I appreciate your acknowledgment. I enjoy the physical part as well. I am always impressed with how nice the cemetery in rural Young County where my parents are buried is kept up.

It was hard to get a good photo as the lighting in the old theater was appropriately subdued. Thanks for the visit!

There were many others that were private. I liked the public one that encouraged visitors to add and participate.

It seems to me that the Catholic All Saints Day and the Day of the Dead have a lot in common. There’s something to be said for remembering those we have lost, and for acknowledging our own mortality. Thanks for sharing!

I tried to comment on this, but then WordPress made me log in again, and apparently lost my comment in the process. Anyway, it seems to me that the Catholic All Saints Day and the Day of the Dead share a common theme: honoring those that we have lost, and recognizing our own mortality. And that’s a good thing!
