He is one of the family and keep me company in the kitchen! I love Talvera and have many pieces from Mexico and give them all names. This came from a local store. I hope your summers is going well and you have safe travels with your family. Cheers!

He does remind me to smile and take life lighter. I also a framed quote in the kitchen that reads:

I have a friend who has a concrete “porch pup” that she decorates according to holidays and seasons. I’d say Captain Jack is just as spiffy, and he certainly is appealing with that toothy grin!

I bought him at an HEB Plus in Victoria for Halloween, but I liked him so much I decided to keep him around on the bar in the kitchen. Silly, maybe, but he adds color and character and is always part of things at the bar whether breakfast, lunch or happy hour. The rest of my house is rather normal!

No fifteen minutes of fame for Jack the lad! For .. “If you can keep your head when all about you are loosing theirs … Yours is the earth an everything that’s in it. With apologizes to Rudyard Kipling for paraphrasing is poetry. It is an amazing Jack O-Lantern that holds a place of honour in your kitchen while his fellow pumpkins are turned into pie. In the dead of night he is probably reciting the poem “IF” . I’m absolutely sure he walks with kings.

I have seen others since but he is the handsomest. He is such a jolly fellow that we could not bear to put him away after the Halloween season. So in that sense he is happy not to have been turned into pie or seasonal decor. I am glad you approve and understand the magic he brings to my kitchen. “If” is one of my favorite poems! Dearest Jo Nell, several Christmases ago I found a polar bear. He has a winsome face. I thought a little sad, so I never put him away. I call him loref Byrnison after the bear in the Golden Compass. We are having a splendid summer. Not too hot, and my garden is a joy. XXXOOO Virginia

Captain Jack is very cute!
