One of my favorite movies is “The Birdcage” with Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Gene Hackman, as there are so many layers to savor. Yet I had never seen the musical, “La Cage Aux Folles,” until I saw it last month at a local theater, Harbor Playhouse, in Corpus Christi. Husband, Daughter and I attended a Sunday matinee performance.
Daughter and I were delighted when Husband brought our wine in commemorative glasses.
The production was great fun and an outstanding last performance. My favorite song was “The Best of Times is Now”as it reminded me (at this age) that the best times are those right now in the moment…tomorrow…who knows…CHEERS!
Oh…………PEA GREEN ENVY……….. the brightest pea green envy there ever was!!!! How wonderful!!!………..and commemorative glasses to boot!!! I bet the performance was fantastic! I have never seen the play. I do have copies of the original movies in French with English dubbing. We first saw it in Denver on Larimer Square at an arts theatre in 1977. At that time it was still in French with subtitles. I laughed and screamed so loud that the good husband moved to the other side of the theater as he was so mortified………….hahahhahahah. Lovely! I bet you had the best of times! Thank you for all the joy you have brought into my life!

Oh, yes, it was the best of times and the performance was outstanding. We have more wine glasses than we need but I can’t seem to resist them! The French movie must have been great. You bring joy to my life! Cheers!

The Birdcage will always cheer one up! I have seen it several times. Glad that you like it too. The musical was good also but the movie was just as good without the music. Oh, there was that good song at the end, “We Are Family!”

Love this film and play as well. Thinking of how much we’ve lost with the early death of Robin Williams. At least we have those memories and the work he left behind.

Robin Williams was great in this movie and so many others – “What Dreams May Come,” “Millenium Man,” “Mrs. Doubtfire” others. Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts!

What a wonderful evening, and those glasses are extra special!

The glasses were a surprise. We usually have a glass of wine before a performance there but are the usual clear plastic. I have never seen them do that before. And stemless ones are fun, I think. Take care, Dor!

How exciting! I love the wine glasses, too. I used to have one from almost every winery and vineyard in the Stellenbosch wine valley, but alas, most of them have been broken over the years. And, like a couple of others, I have never seen this, and now I want to!

I can relate to understanding that, at our age, we can’t count on tomorrow being as good as today. I am now making the most of each day and enjoying every minute of it. And that includes reading your post. 🙂
