The Peace of Wild Things
by Wendell Berry
When despair for the world grows for me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake rests,
in his beauty on the water,
and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things,
who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief,
I come into the presence of still water,
and I feel above me the dayblind stars,
waiting with their light,
for a time, I rest in the grace of the world,
and am free.
Jo Nell such a thoughtful and encouraging poem. Have a wonderful week-end. Virginia

Perhaps we are the only species that worries more about tomorrow than today. Good reminder on perspective.

Yes, I think we are. I have to work at worrying less but I think I am getting better as I get older. Living today is the most important thing. Thanks for the comment and visit!

I wonder how many sleepless nights we have as we think of the future and our children’s children .. And wonder what kind of a world we leave them…
Too often we have stared into the darkness of our own imaginings…. Let us join in the NOW of our tomorrows And live in the Moment… I so hope we can unite in our thinking of our presence, of Love and Light..
A Beautiful poem my friend …. Know that more and more of the collective are joining their thoughts for a brighter Future
Much love and Light

Yes, I wonder what the world will be like when my grandson is my age and I am gone. I try to live in today and turn away from darkness and look to the light. Thank you for sharing your energy and thoughts!

I thought it was haunting too. My dark imaginings seem to come in the middle of the night more often as I get older but there is peace in the moon light. The Tin Man has a beautiful and good heart!
